What's everyone's thoughts on this album?

I've been playing it pretty much non-stop for the last 3 or so weeks.  Best since Painkiller for sure.  devilbang

Only real clunkers for me are Lone Wolf and Sea of Red.  Those are good songs just not up the the level of the others.  I pretty much turn it off after No Surrender (which RULES).  devilbang

Firepower!  evil2

The whole album is solid, perhaps even more so than Painkiller. Andy Sneap really gave Priest a wall of sound!
The standout track for me is Rising From Ruins, followed by Spectre and No Surrender. Rob sounds at least 10 years younger than he did on Redemption Of Souls.

It could well be my favorite Priest since Defenders.  angel

My favorite songs are Rising From Ruins (def the best track for me), Spectre and Traitors Gate.

It's been out for nearly a month and I'm pretty sure I've listened to it at least once a day since.  Great album.  devilbang

Thanks to Firepower, I’ve been on a huge Priest binging frenzy...
Listened to the whole discography, haven’t done that in years! devilbang

Still not fond of Turbo and Ram It Down.  coffee

I've grown to tolerate maybe half of Turbo.  The rest still blows.

The 3 worst Priest albums for me are Demolition, Turbo and Nostradamus.

Firepower would be sorta middle of the pack for me but is still a pretty awesome album.  devilbang

At the moment, this is pretty much the order in which I enjoy the Priest discography, favorite to least favorite.

Unleash In The East it's the one I enjoy the most! Even though it's not a studio album, although some say it is...  Wink

Sad Wings of Destiny
Sin After Sin
British Steel
Screaming for Vengeance
Defenders of the Faith
Stained Class
Killing Machine
Firepower
Painkiller
Angel of Retribution
Point of Entry
Redeemer of Souls
Nostradamus
Rock a Rolla
Ram It Down
Turbo

I didn't include the Ripper albums, as I pretty much refrain from listening to both and don't consider them canon, although Jugulator has it's moments... especially Cathedral Spires.

Firepower is such a killer release by the mighty Priest. To think as long as they've been around and were able to put out such a quality album is just amazing. Love Traitors Gate (probably my favorite track), Flame Thrower, No Surrender and Lightning Strike. I am probably in the minority here, and also according to some reviews I have read, but I love Lone Wolf. Yes, it really doesn't fit the rest of the album, but Rob's mid-range vocals throughout on that song are appealing to me along with the down-tuned guitar. Almost sound like a doom/stoner track. Their best output in quite some time, probably their best effort since Painkiller in the Halford era material. I happen to really like Jugulator though. I would put this album somewhere in the middle of their catalog which is actually quite impressive considering their body of work.

I also dig Lone Wolf, but then early Priest had a few good nods to Sabbath. Never expected them to deliver the goods ( No pun intended ) at this level so far in their career... as awesome as it is, it's a bittersweet moment for the band.

Even Evil Never Dies, despite it's cheesy lyrics is damn catchy!

I'm actually bummed that when I saw them last month they only performed 3 songs (the first 3).

Still spinning this a few times a week since it's release.  I don't think any post Painkiller album (even Jugulator which I've always really liked) had this kind of staying power for me.  devilbang

Yeah, I've listened to this album a minimum of once a week. Listened to the entire album on the way to work this morning  devilbang
