Went to the show in Charlotte last night-- they have been a 'bucket list' band for me for some time, despite not liking their post-Open Fire output-- Down for the Count, Contagious, Ten, and not being familiar 2 1990's albums.  I did dig 2010's "Facemelter."

Meniketti does not look or sound 62-- his voice is pretty perfect and man, he can still play-- a totally professional outfit. I have been following their sets since the tour started in early February and liked seeing they play lengthy and changing sets.  While about 14-15 songs remains staples in the set, the band pulls another 5-8 together from another 17 or so songs.  Every show has had between 19 and 23 songs in it-- awesome-- I wish more established, long-running bands would do this.

Meniketti noticeably coughed a few times between songs, and later in the set acknowledged not feeling well.  Midway through their set he took some requests from the audience and changed the set up a bit.  I did see a picture of the pre-show setlist and they did deviate from it, and also cut 2 songs-- I presume this was due to his illness-- though as I mentioned earlier, he sounded great.

The set:

From the Moon (taped intro)
Black Tiger
L.A. Rocks
Lipstick and Leather
Don't Stop Runnin'
Voices
Shine On
Mean Streak
Dirty Girl  (in-fucking-credible)
Midnight in Tokyo (ruled)
Take You to the Limit
Cold Day in Hell
Barroom Boogie
I Believe in You (Y&T's Hallowed Be They Name?  Yes, I think so.)
Eyes of a Stranger
Contagious
Squeeze
Summertime Girls
Rescue Me (killer)

Encore:
Forever (fitting)

I will definitely see them again if given the opportunity, and really wish I'd made the trek to Atlanta last week for their 23-song marathon set.

All told, 2 hours and 5 minutes last night.  My only real gripe?  The opener was a terrible cover band...

I saw them for the first time last April and they rocked. I love them up to and including "Down for the Count" then I jumped off till "Facemelter" (good return). Hope they have one more in them. More metalheads need to know/appreciate this band.

"Earthshaker", "Black Tiger" and "Meanstreak" are some of the best pop-metal ever made  kickballs

100% agree with this comment.  I was heavily into this band in the late 70's into the early 80's.

Meanstreak was their pinnacle.  In Rock We Trust, the band started going in a more commercial direction which I wasn;t down for.

Other than that cheesy video for "Don't Stop Runnin'", I don't think they softened too much with "In Rock We Trust," at least sonically.  But man, when that terrible "Summertime Girls" appeared on the excellent "Open Fire" album, that too me is when the huge shift happened.

Not familiar with much else on Down For the Count, but I presume it is in line with SG.  Contagious is pretty rough, too.  I must be a glutton, though-- never heard "Ten" but just picked it up for $4 and change.

Also got the Live At the Mystic double album-- that should rule.

Good to see they're still going strong.  I have to admit though, all I know from Y&T is Mean Streech and Summertime Girls.  I never went any further after those 2 songs... especially with the video with that stupid robot on the beach.  lol

Yes.  The Loft on 4/20.

Did you go?

They were killer as expected in Asheville.  One of the best live bands going these days, to me.  Up there with Overkill and Fu Manchu as far as dominating a room.  Price was also excellent ($17 for a 2 hour set).

Probably the best voice for his age of anyone I've seen live in that age bracket (Motorhead, Priest, Maiden, Dio).
