THIN LIZZY - Thunder And Lightning (1983)

1. Thunder and Lightning
2. This Is the One
3. Sun Goes Down
4. Holy War
5. Cold Sweat
6. Someday She Is Going to Hit Back
7. Baby Please Don't Go
8. Bad Habits
9. Heart Attack

Phil and the boys really kicked it up a notch on this one thanks to the addition of John Sykes on guitar; I mean just listen to that solo in Cold Sweat and you'll get the idea! The band was truly firing on all cylinders and delivered some of their best material. The title track, Cold Sweat and Heart Attack are some of the heaviest Lizzy songs you'll ever hear while the moody Sun Goes Down just sucks you in a trance. The bluesy numbers like Baby Please Don't Go and Bad Habits are just plain catchy. Sadly, this was to be Thin Lizzy's last studio album...

Actually listening to some Thin Lizzy now.  I am in a bit of a British Classic rock mood. Listened to some Deep Purple last night and some UFO the night before.

I have never heard this album in its entirity. I think the only two tracts I heard are the title track and Cold Sweat which indeed rules.

This is such a great album.  I never really gave Thin Lizzy a chance until this album.  All I knew about them befor was The Boys Are Back in Town and I've always hated that song.  But this one, man, this is killer.  The first 5 songs are brilliant with Holy War being my absolute favorite.  The others aren't too shabby either.  Killer playing, killer songs.  I've gone back to some of the older albums and they're good but they lack that punch that I got from this album.  For those who have yet to go into the catalog of Thin Lizzy, I highly recommend this as a place to start.  You'll get a feel for the band and what they're about but with a harder edge.

A true classic IMO.

Never cared for this band because of 'Boys are back in town' but due to so much jabbering about them on various boards I checked them out on a whim this past fall. I had a lot of trade in value and the store really didn't have anything I wanted so I checked out "Johnny the fox" and this album. Oh my do they ever rule. Way late to the party, but glad I finally arrived. Classic band  nana

This is fairly far down on my list from the band but still in the upper half.  Not a bad song in the bunch and numerous classics.  John just shreds and after Snowy White's lackluster performance (read: nonexistent) on the previous two this was a massive welcome back.  Holy War, Cold Sweat, The Sun Goes Down, Baby Please Don't Go, Bad Habits, and Heart Attack are my personal favorites.  A long list but it's all good.
