JAG PANZER - Decade Of The Nail-Spiked Bat

Usually when bands re-record old classics, more often than not, it ends up being a disappointment. Either the production is too modern or the singer can't hit those high notes anymore... For various reasons it's not easy to recapture the magic of some of the older analog studio recordings.
But I swear, JAG PANZER managed to get everything right with Decade Of The Nail-Spiked Bat, what a kick-ass heavy metal gem; from the old school production all the way down to the cover artwork! And Harry "The Tyrant" Conklin still sounds like he's 20 years old.
I hope they come up with a new album soon...

I've seen them live a few times and thought they were really good. Somehow, I've never bought anything by them. I guess it's time to change that. I think I'll start with this release...

I saw them at the BWBK Six Pack when they played a complete retro set and it was AWESOME! When Metal Melts The Ice still rips through my head from that show. I do like this compilation but I think the originals sound better. So I'm not sure what to think of it. However, I need to bust it out again. I never did give it a fair listen.
As for new material, the new album is done. It's just a matter of finding a new label. The Scourge of Light

I saw them tour with In Flames and Iced Earth, and frankly, it was a disppointment. NOT!!! The only disappointment is that they opened and only got to play 5 tunes
They slayed! When Harry ran into the crowd during the song Black he ran up to the bar area where Crimson Idol and I were chillin' and I sang the chorus with him. I'm sure the crowd couldn't wait for that part to end, but he was an awesome precence on the stage.
I sooooo wish they would headline ProgPower and play an extended set! I was hoping they would be a part of the "returning heroes" part of ProgPower since they were in the 1st years line up and that's the only PP I haven't been too. Oh well, maybe some day.
Decade is an excellent reissue. Well done, not over produced, but even if it was I wouldn't care. Thay rock!

Did you see them at Jaxx? I remeber Harry running around during a song towards the end of the set. I turned around and he was right behind me, it was both weird and awesome at the same time.

That must have been great!
I ran into Harry at the 6-Pack and told him It was great to finally see them live and that I still owned an original picture disc of the "Tyrant ep" from back in the day. He looked at me with this somewhat scary intense stare and then shook my hand and gave me a Heineken.
