So, I've only heard what's on their myspace, and can only find reissues of their albums for $20 a pop.  Sad

I assume Darkness Descends is the best place to start?  How are the other two albums?  I know one has a like 287 riffs or something.

Blame this post on Get Thrashed and me wanting to fill the gaps in my thrash collection.  This band is a glaring omission.

I think most would say Darkness Descends but I actually like We Have Arrived a bit more.  It's still thrash but it's slower, more basic and with a different singer.  Darkness Descends is probably your best bet.  Leave Scars and Time Does Not Heal are just too chaotic for me, I don't like the singer and there are just too many damn riffs.  I didn't think that was even possible at the time to have too many riffs but these showed me the error of my ways.  That being siad, I still like the band and they're great in small doses but 5 songs in and I need a rest.  lol

Thanks.

I have to say that I'm intrigued with the idea of an album with that many riffs, but I'm not really sure how I'd like it.

I wish they would re-release these in NA again.  I ordered all 3 about 2 years ago during that shipping debacle at The End and never got them.  Sad

It's worth picking up Leave Scars or Time Does Not Heal just to see the small novel that is the lyric sheet.  lol  Lots 'o' riffs, lots 'o' words.

Darkness Descends is where you need to start, if you like that then let Mosh and I know and we can recommend from there.  thumb

So basically, if he likes Darkness Descends, then he should get either We Have Arrived, Leave Scars or Time Does Not Heal?  lol

Darkness Descends is the only one I would truly recommend, although We Have Arrived certainly has it's moments, but it almost sounds like a different band,,,,,

I think "Darkness Descends" is also their best, and I think Doty is the best fit singer-wise for the band.  Time Does Not Heal is a close second, however, as I think they actually pull of the riff changes pretty well-- it's truly a mind-spinning album and one that you can really headbang to...

I never spin Leave Scars as the sound quality/mix is ass to these ears.

I actually just ordered "Live Scars" yesterday as I've never owned it...

Dark Angel pretty much playing too fast for their own good:

The Burning of Sodom (with Rinehart on vocals):
