Good album, this is the last Evergrey album I really liked.  Good, dark, catchy tunes.  The new stuff is way too watered down and bland.

I remember there being a big stink about the production on this album on the Progpower boards back when it came out, but I could never hear a problem.  Sounds good to me.

Totally remember that, it was an issue with the mastering job from Andy Larocque, some guy was complaining about some crackling or compression issues he could hear while listening to the album with headphones on, and then the whole thing took on epic proportions...  eek2

Recreation Day is a great album, but I have to give a slight edge to In Search Of Truth, which I think is their most brilliant work.
Extremely talented band, but as my girlfriend pointed out on several occasions, Tom's vocals can be a bit over the top and borderline too dramatic at times...

Thanks for the confirmation, I was certain there were tons of threads about the production over there and it never made any sense to me.  Doh!

scratch scratch this album is worshipped on the Progpower USA message board

Ah, maybe it was the PMX board.  I don't exactly remember what the complaints were.  So, umm, yeah.

Recreation Day  devilbang

It was PMX.  People kept complaining about scratching, distortion, whatever.  This album sounds perfect and is perfect.  Great choice V!

I agree about everything since.  Patrick Carlson's drumming took this album beyond the level.  A perfect melding of talent and songwriting.  Since then from the rhythm section on up they just don't cut it anymore.  The albums aren't bad but they're a waste of some amazing talent.

I dig this album-- this is the album that got me into the band.  There are some of the later tracks on this album that I get a bit hazy about, as this album doesn't seem to have the consistency of In Search of Truth, but still has its fair share of classic Everygreyish songs.

For the record, I actually love "The Inner Circle".  The two following that I listen to occasionally, but couldn't really recall the names of any songs.

I'd love to see that special show, but I've already seen them 3 times, and Zeke's Neighbor, who's seen them 4 times, can't make it.

for me they were always better live...... i love them live, but always had trouble getting into them on disc.  I would put cds in and i would struggle to enjoy them.
