I know, the album is only 5+ years old, but to me this is a classic album in ever sense of the word. Such a brooding, dark slice of Swedish metal.  I was fortunate to be able to see them live for this album including seeing Tom Englund do the "Trilogy of the Damned" with just him and the keyboard player.  So mellow, yet so powerful at the same time. Oh and this is my personal favorite Evergrey song PERIOD!!!! bowdown Any who...back to the album...Has lots of staples of their live show still today, like: The Great Deceiver, End Of Your Days, Recreation Day, I'm Sorry (one of my personal favorite Evergrey songs), Blinded, Madness Caught Another Victim and Your Darkest Hour. This is Evergrey's last truly GREAT album (although I do really love their new one Torn), so give me your thoughts...

Track Listing:

   1. The Great Deceiver
   2. End Of Your Days
   3. As I Lie Here Bleeding
   4. Recreation Day
   5. Visions
   6. I'm Sorry
   7. Blinded
   8. Fragments
   9. Madness Caught Another Victim
  10. Your Darkest Hour
  11. Unforgivable
  12. Trilogy Of The Damned

proggy????  scratch Doh! they may have a touch of progressive tendencies but they are far more into power metal or dark metal...they sure aren't a normal prog band!!

Good album...for my money, I prefer In Search Of Truth, but Recreation Day is indeed strong!  devilbang

that's my wife's favorite, but it is also the first one she heard by the band too.  Recreation Day is her 2nd favorite.

Good album, this is the last Evergrey album I really liked.  Good, dark, catchy tunes.  The new stuff is way too watered down and bland.

I remember there being a big stink about the production on this album on the Progpower boards back when it came out, but I could never hear a problem.  Sounds good to me.

Ah, maybe it was the PMX board.  I don't exactly remember what the complaints were.  So, umm, yeah.

Totally remember that, it was an issue with the mastering job from Andy Larocque, some guy was complaining about some crackling or compression issues he could hear while listening to the album with headphones on, and then the whole thing took on epic proportions...  eek2

Recreation Day is a great album, but I have to give a slight edge to In Search Of Truth, which I think is their most brilliant work.
Extremely talented band, but as my girlfriend pointed out on several occasions, Tom's vocals can be a bit over the top and borderline too dramatic at times...
