Group members not recording, touring together

Despite published reports indicating otherwise, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham have abandoned plans to record and tour together.

usicRadar spoke exclusively with Peter Mensch, Jimmy Page's manager, who stated categorically, "Led Zeppelin are over! If you didn't see them in 2007 [when they played a one-off reunion at London's O2 Arena], you missed them. It's done. I can't be any clearer than that."
Singers auditioned, "no one worked out"
Mensch confirmed that last fall, when singer Robert Plant made it known he was continuing his partnership with bluegrass artist Alison Krauss and had no intention of returning to Led Zeppelin, replacement vocalists were auditioned to possibly record and tour with Page, Jones and Bonham.

"They tried out a few singers, but no one worked out," says Mensch. "That was it. The whole thing is completely over now. There are absolutely no plans for them to continue. Zero. Frankly, I wish everybody would stop talking about it."

When asked what new projects Jimmy Page was going to be involved with in 2009, Mensch said, "Fuck if I know. I'm waiting to hear."

I for one am glad to hear this....no way should they have gone on the road as Led Zeppelin without Plant on vocals....THoughts?

Good for them.  Everyone knows it would be a cash grab.  I have a lot more respect for them NOT doing it than if they did.

That's what I am saying.  It was not right for them to try in the first place to find another singer.  I can understand getting Jason Bonham to replace his dad on drums.  But the hardest thing to do is replace a singer.  You identify a band mostly by the vocals.

Can't blame them for trying to replace Plant though...they must have thought it would have been a blast to go out and play again...

Yea, that's the only reason why it kinda sucks.  Page and Jones haven't done anything in so long, it would probably be a blast for them to get out there again.  My brother say that Plant/Krauss thing and I vaguely remember him saying they did a bunch of Zeppelin songs so I wonder what his deal is?

Man you guys I don't know.

So, it's OK for Plant to say no and deny the other 3 the right to tour?

See, I don't think THAT'S right.

I'd ask Paul Rodgers to do it.

They should get Lenny Wolf previously of Kingdom Come and Stone Fury.  Hell, if I recall they accused Kingdom Come of ripping them off several years ago.

I know this, I wouldn't go pay to see them even with Plant.  There is no way I would ever fork out the bucks they would probably want for a ticket.

Led Zep without Plant would be simply sacrilege!  No

Some things are better left untouched and Plant is just smart enough to realize they simply cannot recreate the magic of days gone by.
Money isn't everything and I think he's doing the right thing.

Queen with Paul Rodgers is bad enough...   sick
