THE OLD DEAD TREE Call It Quits
Posted on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at 12:11:55 EST
Season Of Mist have announced that French metallers THE OLD DEAD TREE have decided to call it quits.
Here is frontman Manuel's official statement:
"The Old Dead Tree is no more.
I wish I never had to write those words, but nothing is forever. These last few months, some disagreements started to grow within the band, regarding commitment and musical direction in the making of our fourth album. Those differences of opinions soon turned out to be a dead-end problem and led me to make the decision of ending the band's activities.
In twelve years of existence, The Old Dead Tree had its share of lineup changes. Of course, each of them has been an improvement, but they were also painful losses. And I do not want to face that kind of loss again.
Be that as it may, I am still extremely proud of the work we have achieved and I want to thank all the people without whom nothing would have been possible: past and present band members with whom I learnt so much and had amazing times, our wonderful crew, our label Season of Mist, our tour booker K Productions, and especially the fans who supported us and encouraged us to go forwards. I wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
This is now farewell."

I miss him too!
I'm sure Chewie dropped by to give him a sloppy kiss.
That's such a lovely thought!
Makes me wonder how his cat Yosemite Sam is doing.

Yeah, Adrian turned me on to The Nameless Disease too shame that the follow ups never recreated the sound & atmosphere of that amazing album. I'll probably dust it off this weekend now!

Protag-- YS died a while back. Or were you referring to a visit in the netherworld?

I was thinking about him last night.
He was one of the reasons I joined the BB (.....and I had never been a member of any message board before that). And it was great. Everyone got along, there was healthy debate and any disagreements were handled with class and respect. Once he started working for The End and couldn't post all day, the board started slipping. Things started to become more negative and petty..... but it was still fun. And then after he passed, it's lost most of it's charm and has almost become "just another message board". Lots of cool people still over there but Adrian's presence is
sorely
missed.
He was such a positive force that it extended to everyone around him. Even when he hated a band, there was a laugh to go along with it. I loved that.
He made everyone happy.

It looks like it was sometime in April.

Yeah that was Adrian's boy alright. Anyone else he'd tolerate you for a while if you were petting him & then when he got bored with it he'd let you know w/o ?. I can see Adrian's passing being more than Y could bear.

i knew i had a message saved on my voicemail from him...so i decided to listen to it today... it had been quite some time and couldn't remember what he said in it.....
in that message he had called to wish me a Happy Thanksgiving Day.... seemed fitting.
I miss him more than I could ever express in words.

As do we all sweetie. Last year around this time I got my birthday present from him, Murder Ballads by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds & the 2 disc remastered version of Love's Forever Changes. He was thinking about what he wanted for his birthday, once he'd decided I told him I'd have to wait till my payday to order it & the day I did was the day I was told he'd passed away. One of the absolute worst days of my life, I was in tears the entire time I was cancelling his birthday order.
