In Loving Memory of our friend Adrian Bromley 11/30/1971-12/7/2008.
Cheap Trick's 4th studio album, Dream Police, has long been my favorite album by the band.  Released in 1979, it was also the most successful for the band going platinum within a few months.  The title track released as the first single and probably the reason the album sold so well.  Other hits were Voices and Way Of The World. This one is for our Friend and buddy Adrian!! We will love and miss you big guy.   Sad

Track listing

   1. "Dream Police" (Nielsen) – 3:49
   2. "Way of the World" (Nielsen/Zander) – 3:39
   3. "The House Is Rockin' (With Domestic Problems)" (Nielsen/Petersson) – 5:12
   4. "Gonna Raise Hell" (Nielsen) – 9:20
   5. "I'll Be with You Tonight" (Carlos/Nielsen/Petersson/Zander) – 3:52
   6. "Voices" (Nielsen) – 4:22
   7. "Writing on the Wall" (Nielsen) – 3:26
   8. "I Know What I Want" (Nielsen) – 4:29
   9. "Need Your Love" (Nielsen/Petersson) – 7:39

I really need to check out more Cheap Trick.  I only have the Greatest Hits and Live at Budokan and both are great albums.  I just need to dig in and hear the non-hits.

I've only been a casual fan-- but I'm still kicking myself-- they did either 2 or 3 nights in Seattle when I lived there-- played a club (smaller than the Masquerade), and each night played one of their classic albums from start to finish, as well as a set of 'hits'.  I think it was 2 nights and it was $50-$60 for a 2 night pass...

I love this album and the title track.  It is my favorite song by the band followed by "She's Tight".

Wow, a very appropriate tribute having this thread here tonight in honor of our friend Adrian.

"Dream Police" is my favorite CT album.  Funnily enough I haven't met too many people who share this sentiment, and I don't know why.  Every song on the album is great, and I think the sequencing of songs is perfect too.  This is what I call my "Las Vegas cd", LOL.  Whenever I am in Vegas, I always bring this cd with me and it's such a great one to play while driving around town, the energy and feel seems to fit perfectly for me.  A couple of fairly overlooked gems on this one would be "I'll Be With You Tonight" and "Writing On The Wall", energetic rockers with some very Beatles-influenced chords to boot.  And while many would consider "The Flame" to be CT's best "ballad", I give that honorable title to "Voices" from this cd.

My first exposure to this cd was seeing the three promo videos they made for "Dream Police", "Way Of The World" and "Voices" on a television show around late 1979.  I was already familiar with the band but seeing those clips made me a fan.  I was fortunate enough to see them about a year or so later at Chicagofest, with Pete Comita playing bass no less.

As stated earlier in the thread, you can't really go wrong with picking up this cd if you're looking to investigate CT further.  The debut self-titled cd and "Heaven Tonight" are also strongly recommended.  Believe me there's much more to this band than just "I Want You To Want Me", "Surrender" and their 1980s keyboard heavy pop hits (not that I'm slagging them off or anything as I do enjoy them too).
