Flotsam and Jetsam-Doomsday For The Deceiver
One of the true Classic, but under appreciated thrash albums of the metal era. Everyone always remembers the Metallicas, Slayers, Megadeths, Testaments, Exodus', Anthraxs, and Metal Churchs even when discussing classic debut thrash metal albums.  But the one that often goes unmentioned but it just as deserving as these American thrash classics comes from Phoenix, Arizona's own Flotsam and Jetsam.  Doomsday for the Deceiver released in 1986 was mostly written by bassist Jason Newsted.  As we all remember, Jason left after this album to join Metallica to replace the tragically killed Cliff Burton.  The one thing that really stands out on this album from the "Big Boys" (thrash bands listed above) are the vocals on the album.  Eric A.K. has a unique approach to vocals. He can go from his normal higher than the usual thrash vocals to a falsetto that really fit the music well.  IMO, Eric never sounded better than he did on this album.

I'm going to catch a load of shit for this,,,,,but I honestly think this is one of the best, and possibly the best, thrash album ever recorded and I absolutely consider it the best album from the 1980s.  Certainly, many valid arguments for other albums can be made, and I'm fine with that, but, there is just something about this album that pushes ALL the right buttons with me.

The only weakness on the whole album is that the guitar seems a touch out of tune during the intro portion of the song "Doomsday For The Deceiver".

To this day, it still clicks with me, from start to finish,,,,,

Just FYI,,,,,here are my top 5 albums from the 1980s,,,,,

2. METALLICA - Ride The Lightning
3. MOTORHEAD - Orgasmatron

COOL!!!  That rerelease has both the original version of the album and a remastered version, if I'm not mistaken.
