KROKUS - Headhunter [1983]

01 Headhunter
02 Eat The Rich
03 Screaming In The Night
04 Ready To Burn
05 Night Wolf
06 Stayed Awake All Night
07 Stand And Be Counted
08 White Din
09 Russian Winter

KROKUS is one of those bands that have unfortunately been hit & miss throughout most of their career, but the stars truly aligned for them with Headhunter. Right from the title track's opening riff, you get the feeling this one's special. The eerie similarity of Marc Storace vocals to the late Bon Scott are still there of course, but Krokus finally managed to break away from being mere AC/DC clones and created a pure metal masterpiece. There's no skipping tracks on this one and while this is by far KROKUS most metal recording, they also managed to write one of the most compelling moody power ballads (for lack of a better description) with Screaming In The Night. You can even hear Storace and the mighty Rob Halford going at it on Ready To Burn!

Cool album.  Sounds dated today but I still like pulling it out every now and then.  I saw them on this tour opening for Sabbath (Born Again tour).  I remember they were on one of these Friday night rock shows on TV and I had never seen or heard them before.  They came out with all this dry ice and went into Headhunter and I was kinda intimidated!  lol  "Whoa!  These guys are HEAVY!!!!!"  This is definitely one of those nostalgia albums for me.  Cool choice.

horrible album, but maybe they were better live and the songs were not so poppy sounding like they were on album.  hammerhead

I actually like that album, though it's certainly no "Headhunter",,,,,they were really tight and aggressive live,,,,,

devilbang  Great choice!  I love this album and Krokus in general, owning a large part of their classic catalog.  This album was a hit with me from note one.  Eat The Rich is a total classic rocker and Russian Winter is a great rock/metal tune.  Screaming in the Night is up on the list as a classic ballad.  This album is definitely their one true classic.  The one that every should own.  One Vice At A Time is probably second on that list, even if Heart Attack is actually my favorite album in their catalog.
