Death - The Sound of Perseverance

1. Scavenger of human sorrow
2. Bite the pain
3. Spirit crusher
4. Story to tell
5. Flesh and the power it holds
6. Voice of the soul
7. To forgive is to suffer
8. A moment of clarity
9. Painkiller

Nobody said we can't have 2  lol

Anyway, this album rules.  I hated it when I first heard it.  Chucks vocals we different, the drums were too busy, everything was too technical........... and then it hit me.  Hard.  This is a brilliant album and as fine of an ending as we could have asked for.  It's too bad Chuck isn't still with us pushing the genre forward and creating some of the best music the scene has ever heard.

Good album but this is by far my least favorite from Death.  I don't care for the drum sound or Chuck's vocals, but most importantly, it's just a bit too wanky prog for my tastes.

The first person who suggests the Painkiller cover is better than the original is going to get kicked in the nuts.

I can see that.  Lots of noodling on here.

I think Painkiller is the weakest track on here.  They did a good job but I still think the original is better.

Great album, but not quite as good as Human and Individual Thought Patterns.

I can't really compare the Death albums because they all sound so different to me.  However, I will say that ITP and Symbolic are my 2 least favorite ones because they sound pretty similar to me.  But the rest?  Each one has its own identity and each one finds their way in when I feel the need to hear whatever album it is.

Totally.  Did you hear he actually wore a shirt with kittens on it a few times?  Totally gay.

This album battles Symbolic constantly for tops in the Death catalog.  Of course, it was my first Death purchase so that colors my opinion but it wasn't the first I'd heard them.  It's still the album I go back to most and that technicality and manic style is what keeps me craving.  I love the whole album but Bite The Pain is absolutely incredible.  The lead break is one of my favorites ever and the drumming through that portion of the song makes it all the greater.  It sucks that Richard Christy became such a waste of talent elsewhere.

As for the other thread, I'll stick to this one.  Never been a Devin fan.
