1. Welcome to the Jungle
2. It's So Easy
3. Nightrain
4. Out Ta Get Me
5. Mr. Brownstone
6. Paradise City
7. My Michelle
8. Think About You
9. Sweet Child O' Mine
10. You're Crazy
11. Anything Goes
12. Rocket Queen
If I had to pick
one
album that totally changed my life, this would be it. Discovering this band opened my horizons to everything heavier than Bruce Springsteen or John Mellencamp. It's been my favorite album for 22 years, which considering I first heard it when I was 8, means it's been a staple for most of my life. Maiden is my favorite band overall, but Appetite still reigns as my favorite album. The entire album is flawless from start to finish as far as I'm concerned. This band would never come close to releasing anything nearly as worthy after this album. While the Illusion albums were OK, they were a totally different machine by then.
My personal favorite song is Rocket Queen.
Feel free to discuss and or bash my attempt.
I already know M_K's response.

Sorry Kisch, nothing personal, but to my ears this is one of the worst POS in the history of Rock N' Roll...
I just can't stand Axl's whiny bitch vocals!

To a great extent, Axl had one of those love 'em or hate 'em voices,,,,,and I am actually one of the rare exceptions who think his vocals are good but not great.
Having said that, I still very much enjoy this album, though I don't think I've actually listened to it in about a year,,,,,
I remember being in a band many years ago and doing a cover version of "My Michelle",,,,,

HB and I agree on something.

Yep, Axl's voice was a love or hate it kinda thing. I love it. Especially when he wasn't screeching, but even the screeching was badass, IMO.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE this album with the exception of
one song
!! I will see if anyone can guess which one!! Fantastic album, that came out of nowhere and left GNR's contemporaries Faster Pussycat and L.A. Guns in the dust. The band never did another album that even came remotely close to this masterpiece. Axl's voice only got worse after this release too....

Well, I sorta lump Lies in with this since I got it at the same time. The acoustic songs on there aren't bad.
I like most of the Illusions stuff, but it just wasn't the same band. Axl tried making them too grandiose and artsy when they excelled at being down and dirty rockers.

A perfect album that stands head and shoulders above most of the sleaze glam back then. Choosing amongst their contemporaries, you can't get any more dirty, raw and nasty than this album. I could go the rest of my life without hearing Paradise City but but the rest stands tall today.
That said, I must say, I do prefer the first two Love/Hate albums to this. Jizzy Pearl probably falls in the same category as Axl does for vocalists but I'd be surprised if any Gn'R fan couldn't find something to like in Love/Hate's material. Klsch, if you haven't heard them I'm sure you'd like their stuff. They used to have all their albums for free download on their site.
