What, hard rock, but only "at the time"? Dude, it'll be a hard rock record 'til the end of time. Anyway ...
Total classic, yes. My brother would blast the album incessantly in the 70s, and I
dug it
. Still do to this day.
It is still hard rock to me, but to a lot of people it isn't so I added the disclaimer.
Never do that. It's paying heed to the young (not all) and ignorant who refashion art to current trends. It's wrong and ridiculous.
Boston
is a hard rock record. No matter how extreme heavy metal becomes, oldschool hard rock and heavy metal will remain hard rock and heavy metal.

I've never heard this labeled as anything other than hard rock.

Excellent, solid, 1st release. EASILY has surpassed the test of time. Was at one point the 3rd highest selling album [all genres] of all time. Currently still has them at 11th all time. Amazing.

For some reason I never found BOSTON appealing but I enjoy listening to 70s outputs from STYX...
Go figure?

For whatever reason I just can't take listening to the hits off of this. I've heard More Than A Feeling a thousand times more than any other song in history save Sweet Home Alabama and Back in Black. An inescapable summertime song that I enjoyed the first time I heard it and grew to dislike with time. The radio stations around here overplayed all the hits to death. As such I've ignored this album.
This album, Van Halen's debut, AC/DC's "Back in Black" I just can hardly listen to. They're all perfect but I can sing most of the songs in my sleep and wouldn't care to ever hear them again. I know that's stupid but it's true. Thank goodness the VH has Atomic Punk and On Fire to kick my butt with fresh intensity. I never got the impression that this album had songs that good buried by time. Are those last three songs really good?
