Well, this is the album that sent Thin Lizzy worldwide with their two huge hits The Boys are Back In Town and Jailbreak back in 1976.  But, the real underdog of a song on this album could be The Cowboy Song.  Very powerful tune in such a downtoned way.

Why did you have to go so soon Phil?  Sad

Ahh, who am I kidding, The Boys are Back In Town just kicks ass.  An absolute TIMELESS song.  FM radio could play this song as much as You Shook Me All Night Long and I would not get sick of it.  It very well could be perfect.

I use this CD regularly between face offs at my son's games.

1. Romeo And The Lonely Girl
2. Jailbreak
3. Emerald
4. Warriors
5. Fight Or Fall
6. Angel From The Coast
7. Running Back
8. Cowboy Song
9. The Boys Are Back In Town

This is an amazing album from start to finish.

I do slightly prefer Johnny the Fox overall, but both back to back are pretty amazing.

Excellent CD.  shred

What a solid underrated band. Shame that so much drama followed them around. I also have a soft spot for their last album even though the style is markedly different from their earlier releases.

Man, The Boys are Back in Town is the reason I never listened to them growing up!   lol  I never liked that song.... and still don't.  Sorry.  It took Thunder & Lightning for me to see how good the band really was.  I've gone back and checked out some of their earlier stuff and I'm happy I did.  It's not a band I can listen to everyday but when I'm in the right mood, they're a GREAT band.

I don't want to ruin your thread, but, I have never understood why people go all ape-shit about this band.  I think they're one of the most overrated bands in the history of music.  I'll leave this alone now.

Awesome album by a great band!  devilbang

I understand what Release is saying about Thunder & Lightning, that's probably the only Thin Lizzy release that could be considered "Metal" to some extent, the addition of John Sykes on guitar really pushed this band in a heavier direction; his solos were just unreal and probably got him the Whitesnake gig...

now playing the Jailbreak cd....this is my 2nd favorite album by the band, but it does feature my 2 favorite songs by them: Jailbreak and The Boys Are Back In Town.  Thunder & Lightning with John Sykes just kicks MUCH A$$ also is much heavier than anything else in the band's catalog.

Never loved The Boys Are Back In Town even though the band ranks in my top 5-10.  In fact, before I happened upon this album I hated it (a friend got it in a Columbia House mix-up and bought it from him).  The song that annihilates all is Emerald!  It's one of the greatest songs ever written.  Second to it on this album is Warrior.  Both songs are pure metal.  The album as a whole is great.  Fight or Fall, Jailbreak, Cowboy Song, Angel From The Coast, plus the two above... bowdown

It's a classic even if I prefer Fighting, Johnny The Fox and Bad Reputation to it.

Fu Manchu does an excellent cover of Jailbreak on one of their 7''...
