1983's Mean Streak is their best album easily.  From the beginning of Mean Streak, the song, the album kicks a$$.  Other gems that show off Dave Meniketti's guitar work: Lonely Side Of Town, Midnight In Tokyo, Hang 'Em High(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and finally Down and Dirty.  While this is not "metal" in today's standards, it was back in the day.  Hopefully most of you can appreciate this album like I have for the last 25 years.

Track Listing:

   1. Mean Streak
   2. Straight Thru The Heart
   3. Lonely Side Of Town
   4. Midnight In Tokyo
   5. Breaking Away
   6. Hang 'Em High
   7. Take You To The Limit
   8. Sentimental Fool
   9. Down And Dirty

Yep, good album-- finally converted to cd at ProgPower, and picked up Black Tiger (hadn't owned/heard that one before, other than the songs from Open Fire).

Black Tiger is their 2nd best album and really only other essential album to own by the band.

Great pick Venom  thumb

Need to give this a spin, it's been way too long... Dave Meniketti is such an amazing singer.
I remember liking Black Tiger a little bit more, but both albums are equally great!  Cool

That damn "Summertime Girls" atrocity completely ruined this band for me, along with him singing "mean STREECH" as the chorus.

I guess I could put these in the topic about bands you don't give a chance to.  I'm pathetic.  lol

lol I've heard that the early stuff is good but I just missed out I guess.  All I have from them is the song Mean Streak on that Heavy Metal Boxset.  Not a bad song to be honest.

But man, Summertime Girls..... not only did they jump the shark with that song, they jumped the entire friggin' ocean

Don't you hate it when someone like me associates the worst song in their catalog as a representation of the bands entire career?   lol

The Mean Streak and Black Tiger albums sound NOTHING like the pop Summertime Girls song...That transformation started with the In Rock We Trust album which came after Mean Streak but even that was nothing like Summertime Girls....

I wasn't trashing the album per say, just the way he says streech.  lol  I just find it odd because the word Streak would have worked just as well in the song.

Seriously though, I'll give both this and Black Tiger a shot if I run across 'em.
