While the debut, Melissa, is a phenomenal album as well...Don't Break The Oath is Today's Classic Album Of The Day. Released in 1984, it was pretty much one of the most evil albums I had ever heard at that point, not to mention sporting THE evil heavy metal cover of all-time.  King Diamond would switch back and forth between his operatic singing voice and his evil low vocals singing some of the most evil lyrics of the time. Hank Shermann and Michael Denner had the twin guitar thing down.  My favorite Mercyful Fate album.

Track Listing:

   1. A Dangerous Meeting
   2. Nightmare
   3. Desecration of Souls
   4. Night of the Unborn
   5. The Oath
   6. Gypsy
   7. Welcome Princess of Hell
   8. To One Far Away
   9. Come To the Sabbath

Probably my favorite from the band; definitely the first album I picked up from them, for sure.

Favorite song would probably be The Oath or A Dangerous Meeting.  Or perhaps Come to the Sabbath or Gypsy.

I get shivers running down my spine every time I hear it, this is truly one of the most evil album of all time, King Diamond is an evil genius and the Sherman/Denner dual axe work is simply out of this world!
I can only spin this one after midnight on a full moon...

Hail Satan!  Cool

Everyone into metal should own this record.  Absolutely essential.... I go back and forth between this one and Melissa as my fav.  I still love "Burning The Cross" as one of my top MF songs that was written YEARS before this album was. cheers

Should have been titled "Don't Break The Wind."  beerbang

Never did get into KD, just a voice I could never appreciate.  Yes, I've tried.....many many times.

I understand about the vocals,,,,,they're so unique, it's pretty much a love 'em or hate 'em kinda thing,,,,,I hate 'em, but I still appreciate some of his work,,,,,

How do you not like KING DIAMOND's vocals?  So errie and evil sounding....  totally insane and perfectly fits the atmosphere of the music. Big Smile
