I'm SO glad I was able to see Testament twice last year with Paul on drums.  devilbang devilbang

Press release from the band:

TESTAMENT COMMENT ON DEPARTURE OF MEMBER

Paul Bostaph continues with BlackGates

BAY AREA, CALIFORNIA – Chuck Billy, vocalist for Bay Area thrash legend, TESTAMENT, throws down the following update on drummer Paul Bostaph’s departure from the band: “I, Eric, Alex, and Greg want to congratulate our brother, forever, Paul Bostaph on his new band, BlackGates.  And while ‘The Hands of Mayhem’ will be sorely missed from our band, we wish him the ultimate success in everything that he does in his future.”

TESTAMENT is now actively seeking the heaviest drummer on the planet.

Details will be announced soon. Testament's new album, The Dark Roots of Earth, will be unleashed upon the world this spring, 2012!

Hasn't he been out of the band for awhile?   scratch

John Tempesta and then Gene Hoglan have been touring with them, right?

Sad news, Bostaph was a great fit for TESTAMENT.

Maybe they can contact Louie Clemente again...  Buck Teeth

They were filling in while Paul recovered from being injured.

Anyways....I had a feeling this would be the outcome. It's certainly not the first time Paul has left a band after being "injured", and once they said Gene was doing the album...well, yeah. Christ up a tree though.

This is the first I've heard of this new band of his. Hopefully it's cool.

BlackGates has a few demo tracks up:

https://www.reverbnation.com/blackgates

Pretty cool stuff! Sorta Forbidden meets (good) Machine Head meets Sacred Reich's better stuff. Dan Nelson (Anthrax) is the vocalist, I have no idea who the other guys are but the guitarist sure does love himself some Dimebag - dude's good.

I'll be watching how this pans out for sure.  devilbang

When the new band flops Pau will be looking to get back into a bigger band. Wish Hoglan would commit full time  _band
