What I like most:
There's no unspoken competition among the members to listen to the most brutal bands. 
There aren't endless threads about which bands suck more.
Other than me bitching too often, there isn't a whole a lot of negativity.
We'd rather talk about things we like in metal than spending all our time thinking about the stuff we hate.
The lack of attention whores.

It's refreshing.

One of the worst aspects of the BB is that there isn't a thread that can't be derailed by someone saying something negative.  Even in an obit thread that starts off respectfully, you'll get people saying stuff about well, I won't ruin the thread by mentioning all these bad things about the person...

And then, of course, the mud-slinging begins.
