... I can honestly say for the most part, this album does nothing for me. Opeth is my all-time favourite band and I honestly love pretty much everything they've ever done, (I say "they" but really, Opeth has pretty much been a Mike Akerfledt solo project with guest musicians the last few years). I love all types of music, (metal, folk, pop, classical, rock, industrial, drum & bass etc...), so I'm pretty open-minded. This album features a few really great moments but they are few and far between and it ends up being more boring than anything.
This sounds about right.

Hugues, did you end up snagging one of the foolishly-sought-after vinyl editions of
Heritage
that were on sale (for all of five-or-so minutes) on
O Merch
?

I've listened to this record a handful of times, and while I like the songs just fine, this record does not keep me coming back for more.
It's the first Opeth record that I have to remind myself to listen to. No doubt it'll finish fairly high on my year-end list, but it's mostly because the quality of the songs is there and this hasn't been a year that has thrilled me. Not very many releases I've loved.

I couldn't justify getting the ultra expensive limited box set, so I got the regular double vinyl edition instead:

This album is making me sad. It's good at what it does, but I just don't really like what it does

Mikael looked a bit confused at first...
I saw OPETH in Guelph over a week ago with KATATONIA opening;
SOLD OUT show and the Opeth merch was all gone by the time we got in.
Here's the Opeth Set-list
The Devil's Orchard
I Feel The Dark
Face of Melinda
Porcelain Heart + drum solo
Nepenthe
The Throat of Winter
Credence
Closure
Slither
A Fair Judgement
Hex Omega
Folklore
Best show I've seen in awhile!
