Ihsahn replaces Arcturus at ProgPower USA XII Festival
Former EMPEROR frontman, Ihsahn has been confirmed to replace Arcturus at this year’s edition of the annual progressive & power metal festival held in Atlanta, GA September 2011.
Arcturus have issued the following statement regarding their cancellation:
“Arcturus still suffer from hibernation sickness, and due to outdated parts we deeply regret to inform you: We are canceling Progpower USA. This lack of maintenance is entirely our own fault, and sincere apologies go out to the promoter and all ticket holders, especially those of you who had planned to travel far..”
ProgPower USA Promoter, Glenn Harveston, adds:
“I have no idea what the hell that statement means. I’m not going to try and figure it out either, as I have wasted enough time and effort on that “band” already. In the meantime, I would like to personally thank Ihsahn for taking the slot. His professionalism in this situation is greatly appreciated.”
Confirmed bands for ProgPower USA XII:
Therion**
Sanctuary
Ihsahn**
Evergrey (Playing “In Search of Truth” in its entirety exclusively)
Dream Evil**
Vanden Plas**
Labyrinth**
Mob Rules**
While Heaven Wept
PowerGlove
Red Circuit**
Voyager
Darkwater**
Eldritch**
Haken**
Creation’s End
**U.S. exclusive appearances
Ticket and show information can be found at the ProgPower USA web site.
as much as I was looking forward to Arcturus, this is a HUGE upgrade!!!!! Sorry for the crap Glenn, but CONGRATS on the replacement!!! Plus, Ihsahn as Leprous as is live band. Anyone who saw them last year
they F@#$ing ruled. I was sooooooo hoping Glenn would book Ihsahn next year. His latest album kicks ASS!!

I hope part of Ihsahn's touring band is the saxophonist from Shining so there can be a lot of bellyaching about how there's no sax in metal!

'bout an equal replacement, imo.
Arcturus would have ruled. Ihsahn will rule.
I can live with it.
Please, please, Zeke's Neighbor-- keep the Red Stripe tallboys coming...

I'm not knocking Ihsahn but Arcturus was the band that made me decide to go this year. I like several other bands on the roster but I wouldn't go all the way to Georgia for them.
I give Glenn a ton of credit for being able to get such an a fantastic replacement but I'm still bummed that I won't see Arcturus.

I'm decidedly less interested now.
I really don't like Ihsahn's solo stuff.

Well I may be, but that has nothing to do with the fact that his solo albums were crappy and I have less than zero interest in seeing him live doing anything other than Emperor.

I feel bad for you Mass guys. You get tickets to MDF and this festival and the band you want to see the most cancels.

With any festival that has it's tix sell out as fast as this one does you have to put down your money & take your chances that what band(s) you want to see actually perform.
V-man, I still hope that Ihsahn augments it's lineup with a sax player.
