After two weeks I don't think it's quite as good as AMOLAD is.  But I'm enjoying it a lot more than Brave New World and Dance of Death.  And it's still growing on me.  Good stuff.
Brave New World is the BEST, HANDS DOWN album the band has done since Bruce and Adrian rejoined the band, IMO

For you, maybe.  Not for me.  It was a crushing disappointment to me when it came out and it still is.   Can't stand it after the first 3 songs.

But that's just me.  cheers

My favorite song since Bruce's return is 'The Nomad', that's one of the few songs that recaptures the brilliant past, it could have been right at home on Powerslave eddie headbang

hmm, TFF is definitely not an immediate hit for me.  It may be a grower though.  I wish Bruce Dickinson had written more songs since I tend to like his stuff more.  I don't think this album is nearly as good as AMOLAD but it is already better imo than BNW.

This album is coming around for me...first listen wasn't so hot.  Still don't like the first couple tracks very much.  El Dorado ain't so good.  Second half of the record is what's doing it for me right now.  Really like Starblind, Talisman and The Man Who Would Be KIng...

To say the least, the dude that did the review for Teeth Of The Divine doesn't seem to share your view.

It has grown on me in the last week.
Some great Maiden moments on the album, but as a whole it's a challenge to get through in one listening session, but so was AMOLAD.

Yeah, but Erik is more geared toward Death Metal (judging by most of his reviews), he only reviewed this album because none of the rest of us could get to it quickly enough...

I still think it's a really good album...liking it more with each spin.

Man I wish the production were better on this cd.  I'm usually not a production snob by any means but it's so..indecipherable in parts.

Yeah I just listened to this for the first time yesterday and it was (expectedly) mediocre. But that's how I felt about the last album the first time I listened to it as well. Where The Wild Wind Blows was a pretty awesome song (cheesy fucking title though blech haha) and I liked Isle of Avalon. I'll listen to it some more this week and see if it grows.

That's my biggest complaint too.  These songs deserve a better production.  It's nearly identical to AMOLAD but too much low end and a real lack of guitar bite.  I don't think any of the Shirley albums have good production.  It's good enough I suppose, but for a band of Maiden's caliber they should sound outstanding.

I will say that if you really crank this it sounds leagues better, but well produced albums should sound good regardless of stereo set up and speaker volume.

BNW has paper thin guitars and a snare drum that sounded like a bongo, but it was bright and clear.  DOD was a failure on nearly all levels of production and is a travesty.  AMOLAD was more or less a tightened up demo.  TFF at least sounds a bit more produced but they could have done so much more with it.

That being said, it is refreshing in a sense because after seeing them 5 times this summer, this is pretty much exactly what they sound like live.  It's just that I prefer studio albums to be more studio I guess.

However, I'm not going to be one of those insane Maiden fan calling for the return of Martin Birch either. The last two albums he did with them sounded pretty mediocre as well and the dude has been retired for 20 years.  I also don't think Roy Z fits their sound AT ALL either.  So I guess we're stuck with Kevin Shirley forever.

I do wonder how he manages to make the live albums sound pretty good (RIR, Death on the Road, Flight 666) where the studio stuff obviously lacks?  Weird.
