Classic Album Of The Day 9/30/08: Wargasm - Why Play Around?

I remember buying this for the first time at Tower Records sometime in 1989 and loving it immediately.  Even though they are called a 'Tier 2' thrash band, this band always held a special place and my ears felt they were right on par with thrash's best.

Appreciate my fellow Maximusians.

I'm ashamed to say I never heard it or any Wargasm for that matter... 

Who would you compare them to?

GREAT record, but honestly Wargasm would be a tier 4, tier 3 thrash band at best...great record to put on to clean the house to!!

GREAT band!!  I love this album,,,,,but I'm one of the few Wargasm fans out there who think this band improved with each full length release,,,,,I think "Ugly" is better than "Why Play Around?",,,,,and I think "Suicide Notes" is better than "Ugly",,,,,and I think their "Fireball" EP is good too,,,,,I MOST DEFINITELY APPRECIATE THIS BAND!

If not top 10, top 15 for sure,,,,,I think they would be in most people's list had they come around 5 years earlier instead of appearing so late in the thrash scene,,,,,

I would say Forbidden's first 2 albums and F&J's first album are better than Wargasm, but not those bands as a whole.
