I agree with you, but the Nats could not have handpicked a better team for his debut.

True.

Still, it's a pretty big deal around here, folks are actually giving a shit about the Natinals

Well they have the schedule so I'm figuring that they did handpick that team for his debut plus they made sure that Rodriguez as a more savvy catcher didn't hurt either.

SRO in the stadium so that was a change for them.

Pretty much.

They weren't bad the first year they were here from Montreal.  In fact, they were contending for a Wild Card spot up to the All Star Break until reality set in.

Wasn't that when they basically gave away their best players for future draft picks?

With Griffey's recent retirement, my last remaining 3% interest in baseball is now gone.

YES YES YES

I hated riding on the subway on game days though it was funny to see the ratio of actual Nats fans to whatever team thery were playing's fans.  lol Now on days Strasburg is pitching it will be even worse.  Rant

Yes zeke, Griffey was a class act & could actually walk away from the game on his own terms with his head held high.  Cool

Well to be fair about Griffey...his skills have diminished greatly the last 2 years.  He needed to retire. But he was a tremendous player in his prime.

True but they were willing to keep him on regardless but he was the one that felt he was hurting the team more than helping & left because he thought it was time. You've got to respect him a lot for that.

The San Diego Padres just continue to amaze me.  They are currently 6 games up on the SF Giants with a record of 72-47.  They are only a game and a half out of the best record in all of baseball, currently held by the evil empire that is the NY Yankees.

How catastrophically awesome would a Cincinnati-San Diego NL and a Texas-Tampa AL show down be?

Selig better call in for some fixed games NBA style.  devilbang lol

 lol roll

Nothing would make anti-NY fans happier than to see the Yanks fall in the first round.

So, right now, are we talking Texas/Minnesota/Tampa/NY in the AL and SD/Philly/Cincy/Atlanta in the NL?

Just on the basis of how much I hate Peter Deangelo & the Orioles I was a Yankee fan by default. Don't watch baseball though.  lol
