Anytime any team in Texas loses at anything the sporting world is a better place. So I am thankful the Rangers lost.
I can't go as far as any Texas team, I was hoping that Houston would have beaten the Colts last night.

OK, hold on. 18 million a year? I can see football and hockey players making insane amounts of cash because there's a big risk of doing MAJOR damage to your body... but baseball? Your arm get's hurt but you can still flip burgers so it's not THAT big of a deal. What am I missing here? How can anyone justify that amount of cash for a baseball player?

They still play 162 games a year over the course of 6 months, that's a lot of work in one year.

And they make the owners even more - MLB has the lowest ratio of revenue to player salary of any of the four major sports.
That said, 7 years for Jason Werth is absolutely, positively insane.

18 million a year
$111,111.11 per game
$12,345.68 per inning (if it goes 9)
$2,057.61 per out (if it goes 9)

I don't follow baseball anymore (gave up around 2001); this highlight from 1995 still rules, though...
