Mmmmm, hot radiator coolant  _drool

Man, that sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun to change out.  Good luck, man!

Thanks Brian.  I already PMed Gordon (FiS) about it.  He said that it is a very involved job, and to call around to get a quote on a repair cost.  I already know it will be $500+.  And with being in credit card debt already, I need to man up and do this myself.

lol roll

When I bought it in 2000, I never thought it would actually give me more miles than my Toyota (which I received as a 16th B-Day gift from my parents in 1986) which lasted me 240K.

So, between the two vehicles/trucks that I have owned in my life, I have a combined total of 508,000 miles.  Buck Teeth

Well, at 268,200 miles, my heater core has started to leak.

For those that don't know, the heater core is what helps heat up the inside of your car to keep you all cozy inside.  It's the radiator fluid that helps heat up the core.  It's a tiny 7 inch by 7 inch radiator behind your dashboard and in my case, it's apparently behind the steering wheel.  cryingeyesout

So, if I want to do this myself (Which I do...sort of a self macho thing....a self-esteem confidence booster if you will), I will need to pull out the entire dashboard, pull out the steering wheel column, and who knows what else.  cryingeyesout

I know it's the heater core because this weekend, the inside of the truck was starting to smell of hot radiator coolant.
If that's really where your heater core is located, you do NOT want to do this yourself!!!!

I know!  Sad

But, being strapped that I am, I have no choice.

I'm thinking of doing it over Thanksgiving break before it really starts to get cold.  I get a week for Thanksgiving.  Buck Teeth

My registration was up on Feb 28 and I had to take the truck in to replace intake manifold gaskets, fuel injector o-rings, a new EGR valve and a new idle control valve.  $880 later and a passed smog inspection means the F-150 can live another 2 years.  Big Smile
