From the Toronto Star:

Vandals target Liberal MP Borys Wrzesnewskyj again

In an act of early morning vandalism, about 150 signs for Liberal MP Borys Wrzesnewskyj were removed Sunday from lawns throughout Etobicoke Centre, with 30 of them placed in the shape of a giant penis on a hill in the grounds of Humber Valley Village Middle School.

Supporters reported hearing disturbances between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. Sunday along such major streets as Rathburn Rd., Islington Ave., Kipling Ave., only to notice their lawn signs had either been removed, or cut in half.

"It's very disappointing to see this kind of negative statement being made, when there are so many other ways for people to criticize in a positive way," said Wrzesnewskyj, who is seeking his third term representing the relatively affluent riding.

But it is the third federal election in a row in which Wrzesnewskyj's signs have been tampered with. In 2004, a youth was charged after being caught slashing signs, but the charges were dropped when the youth agreed to community service, said Wrzesnewskyj last night.

In 2006, a number of his signs were defaced with Nazi symbols and devil horns.

Police are investigating this latest incident, but the display has been removed in time for school Monday.
Wrznewskyj said he only learned the extent of the vandalism in church Sunday, when Pastor Myles Hunter told the congregation at St. George's On The Hill Anglican church that "people should respect other people's property - including political signs."
