It was great to finally see Deceased live, and there isn't too many negative things I can say about opening for a bunch of such awesome dudes.  I just wish the club didn't SUCK as bad as it did (only mic'd the vocals?!?!?!  What the hell is THAT all about?  Go FUCK yourself!  It sounded so bad that I was having a hard time even figuring out what songs Deceased were playing - even when they were my FAVORITE songs! Grrr....).  Note to ANY metal band looking to play Massachusetts: DO NOT book your show in Boston.  There is ZERO metal scene in and around Boston.  Nobody from Massachusetts likes going into Boston for shows.  This is why attendence always eats a dick at shows in Boston.  However, the metal scene is VERY MUCH alive and kicking in Worcester.  Please book your shows there from now on.  Thank you.

So, one of the major reasons I was so looking forward to playing with Deceased last night (aside from the obvious) was that I'd probably have the chance to haul all sorts of old Deceased and October 31 stuff that is fairly tough to get one's hands on.

First off, this was my first go at checking out October 31.  Man, what an awesome band!  It's like Deceased, only even more old-school and just as much fun!  I picked up:

- Meet Thy Maker
- No Survivors

As for Deceased, I grabbed:

- Corpses, Souls & Other Strangeness (which contains Luck of the Corpse, 13 Frightened Souls, and some bonus material)
- Return to the Evil Side (The Evil Side of Religion demo from '86, and a liv show from '89)
- Shrieks from the Hearse shirt (  devilbang )

Having the chance to FINALLY get my hands on Luck of the Corpse is well worth whatever crappiness came with playing that horrendous club.  What an incredibly awesome album.  And oddly enough, I was kind of expecting it to sound like ass, but the production is surprisingly good for a Deceased album!

I saw them once about two years ago.  It was right after As The Weird Travel On and they were amazing!  Super tight, super heavy and fun as it could be.  Got to talk to King a little bit after the show and yeah bought some great merch.  I'd go anywhere to see them after that show.  Any chance King mentioned what they were up to as far as writing goes.  Their site hasn't been updated since January.  That show wasn't even listed.

I did see October 31st 6-7 years ago.  Unfortunately I didn't have any of their material at the time.  Deceased was actually the band scheduled but a last minute cancellation due to a death in the family had the Oct 31 guys jumping in the make it happen.  That was great show also.

I know King doesn't care but these guys should be huge.  The attendance for the two shows combined may have been 75 people.  Totally lame.

Yeah, it seems their Myspace page is the only thing they update these days.

King told me he's got a label of his own now that he'll be releasing the new album on sometime soon.  Also, he's re-releasing a double CD version of Fearless Undead Machines in about 3 weeks!

And yeah, they should be WAY bigger.  Granted the show was in Boston (probably the worst place to have a show in Mass), but there was maybe 50 people there including the other bands.

That's good news!  I've been waiting on that FUM rerelease for awhile.  Blueprints sounds quite a bit better now and not that Fearless needs it but I'd like the hear it cleaned up a bit.  Such an awesome album!

and new Deeceased?  Nothing better than that!

For me Deceased is a local band & I can't begin to tell you how many times I've seen them live. I don't particularly like their music & don't own any of their albums but I respect them for what they have accomplished in their career & admire King's unflinching passion for the music he loves which includes No Doubt & Gwen Stefani. Consider him a good friend & always wish him well.

That's incredibly...surprising haha.

Though, I can believe it.  We all have our "surprising" tastes.

Well, he didn't make much of a secret of it. When he used to write for Metal Maniacs her name always came up in his playlists. The last time I saw King was at Day of the Exquinox I, he walked in the hall at The Opera House came over & exchanged greetings & salutations with me, gave a listen to half a song by Unexpect then shook his head & walked out of the hall.  diablotin
