Hmm, I can never get past the hotness.

Well, to be honest, it's not like I just started out with the real hot stuff.  Without even realizing it, most people just work their way up to it.  They start out with mild or medium because the taste is there without too much heat, then they try out hot because it's only a little hotter than medium but still has the same flavor.  Next thing you know, they're attempting some real hot stuff and not finding it is as hot as they once thought it was.  By then your body has felt the slight endorphine rush (or so they say) and it's all downhill from there.

Personally, I'm not out to be able to eat the hottest foods around.  I just dig firey wings that taste good ("taste good" being the key phrase here).

This thread reminds me of a friend of mine.

He LOVES hot stuff.  Like, crazy-hot.  So hot, it burns your nostril hairs just catching the aroma.

A few years back, he made a batch of his chili, and froze it in smaller portions.  He kindly shared with me, and took home some and heated it up to serve for dinner.

Well, as soon as I started to thaw the stuff, I could smell the heat of the ingredients.  My wife couldn't eat it, and I got down about three spoonfuls before I realized that I just couldn't finish it.  Too hot, not at all enjoyable because of that.

I wondered what my friend might be doing to his digestive system.

Last time I saw him, he told me that he couldn't eat hot stuff anymore, because he did his stomach too much damage with some of those insane hot sauces.

Probably an ulcer.  My gf can't eat anything really spicy for this reason.

of course I would have, no one eats the Death flavored wings from Taco Mac but me!! 

Wrong.... I've had my share over the years, but prefer the one flavor down in order to salvage my lips and tounge.
