Ever find yourself saying that over and over?  It could be anything, eat healthier, lose weight, play an instrument, travel, get a new hobby...... etc.

For me it was getting a band together.  I've said that for years and never did it.  After every shitty opening band I'd have to sit through, I'd say to myself, why the F aren't YOU up there? 

So, I answered an ad on Craigslist on a whim and hooked up with 2 other guys in the area.  I'm now playing bass with 'em and having a great time.  No pressure, no rock star dreams, just getting together 2 nights a week and seeing what comes out.  All three of us come from completely different backgrounds with music so it's interesting to see where things go.  We'll go from surf to post punk to rock to whatever comes next.  It's the great unknown.  I'm not sure if it'll ever go anywhere but that's cool with me.  At least I'm out there DOING something I've been talking about for years and never following through. 

What about you guys?  Anything you've talked about for years and finally followed through?

Why are you playing BASS and not guitar???????//

Because I love playing bass.  Besides, when I hit a rut with the guitar or become self conscious with my playing, I always take the easy way out and start playing metal.  I'm looking to grow as a player and by stepping out of my comfort range, I'm not only learning new things but having a hell of a good time doing so.  I still play guitar, in fact more than ever these days, but even with that I'm concentrating on playing blues and working on lead playing.  This kinda goes back to the original topic too...... I've said for years that I need to learn other styles and lead guitar which I've been doing for about 10 months now.  And I gotta say, I've grown more as a musician in the last 10 months than I have in the past 5 or 6 years.
