roll roll roll

I don't know what was worse in college- the preppies who only listened to Dave Matthews, or the rockers who though anyone other than Zeppelin sucked.

Is that the 160 GB?

Yeah. You can't beat that kind of space for only $200. My whole library is in 256 or 320 on my computer because I have a 1TB harddrive and a 500GB external for backup, but on the iPod they're crammed down to 128 so I can fit more on it. Honestly I barely notice a difference on my car stereo (or home stereo for that matter...maybe I'm just deaf from too many shows?) between 128 and 256 or 320. If I ever do notice a difference, it's usually in the cymbal crashes if anything.

It was so bad in college I actually ended up hanging out w/ the hippies b/c they knew how to party.   There were only a couple of other metalheads, it really sucked.

This is funny, after all these years Rush has finally clicked for me & by that I mean the vocals since I always liked the music. I think it comes from watching Beyond the Lighted Stage & last night I watched The Boys In Brazil concert film. Anyway I just ordered 5 of their albums, 2112, A Farewell To Kings, Hemispheres, Permanent Waves & Moving Pictures. I found them for $7 each & I'll be picking up more in the future.

CD stores around here have gone down the toilet BIG TIME lately and it's only a matter of time before this area joins the rest of the country's retail wasteland.  This was abundantly clear this weekend as I searched our 2 independent stores for a bunch of stuff that would normally be found with no problem....and found NONE of it.  Most surprisingly: the new Malevolent Creation.  What the frick?  GEE, I WONDER WHY YOU'RE ALL GOING OUT OF BUSINESS.

The new Malevolent may not be the store's fault - Mike saw the tour last week and Malevolent didn't even have any for sale at the show.  They'd already run through the first pressing and they were waiting for new cds to be made.

Otherwise you're right - local stores are getting worse.  Smaller selection of metal, and prices that just don't make sense.  Much as I'd like to support the store, I can't regularly pay an extra $5 or so per cd.   eek2

The guitar solos on Paradise Lost's Icon and Draconian Times are terrible.  To the point I writhe with discomfort and wonder why on earth they bothered.

Luckily the rest of the music on Draconian Times makes that unfortunate business worth unduring.  I'm less sold that it's worth dealing with on Icon however haha.

None of their solos are very good, but those two albums in particular really blow solo-wise.  And it's too bad, because Draconian Times is a fantastic alblum.

It sure is!

I'd say the solos are the only thing keeping it from being "perfect" actually.

I finally got around to listening to the Hail of Bullets EP today. That band fuckin' rocks. Live cuts were killer and the new songs were great. Bring on the new album!  devilbang
