For me, this is the pinnacle of Armored Saint.  While I love the first 2 albums, this one set the standard to these ears-- lots of hooks coupled with aggression and the first Saint release with complete balls in the production (sure, Delirious Nomad was a step up from March, but still...).

The title track, Chemical Euphoria, Human Vulture, Book of Blood, Underdogs, hell even the cover "Saturday Night Special"-- great stuff all around.

After this album, the band lost me and I didn't really return until about 2000 or so.

1. Raising Fear
2. Saturday Night Special
3. Out on a Limb
4. Isolation
5. Chemical Euphoria
6. Crisis of Life
7. Frozen Will/Legacy
8. Human Vulture
9. Book of Blood
10. Terror
11. Underdogs

while this is a GOOD album, their debut March of the Saints is a GREAT album.

I never really found any of their albums to be 'great' but they are all solid releases.  Just a really good solid metal band.

If you like SoS, you'll probably like RF.  RF has more of a trad metal thing going on, SoS grooves a bit more. (and I'm not just saying that because of Tribal Dance.)

For me personally, when I heard SoS, it really turned me off.  I don't remember getting that Armored Saint 'bite' that I was used to from the first 3.

Should I revisit it now that it's 10+ years later?  scratch

It is definately not like the albums before it.  They approached a more groove style (as already mentioned) as opposed to trad. metal.  But there are some killer songs on it.

It's still a good album overall but just different.

I'll check it out since I enjoy SOS.
