Steaming pile of crap

Last Friday there was a huge bash for our CFO who turned 50. I started talking to this guy about music. He mostly listens to modern hard rock & metal but seemed to have an appreciation for the "classic" bands. We discussed what our favourit album of the moment was and I listed Candlemass Death magic Doom, H&H The Devil You Know and Tyr By the Light Of The Northern Star. He listed a couple bands I never heard off and brought in the thier cd's so I could listen to them.
I listen to one of them last night and they were total garbage the album is Lullabies For The Dormant Mind by Agonist. I know we moan when our favourite band put out a turkey but Lullabies is close to being unlistable to me. It makes St Anger sound like a classic to put it in context. I really do not know where to start with this thing. I don't think I have anything postive to say.
I hear they are from Montreal so he expected me to go nuts over it.

Seems pretty cool that a 50 CFO is exchanging CDs with you. If I was you I'd tell him you thought it was pretty cool, as it seems like he's trying to reach out to you a bit

I have known him for a while and we have always been on friendly terms but its was the first time we've discussed music. The reason the subject came up is I saw Ride The Lightning sitting on his desk when I came up to discuss some issue with him earlier in the day. Heven't told him what I though of the Cd yet. I have 3 more that I need to go through.

Never heard of the band and the cover did look cool but sorta gave out this corish vibe.
I was hoping to pleasantly surprised.

ALF,
Tell him to become a member here, that way you won't need to tell him what you really think...

I'll have to be a bit more diplomatic when we discuss this.
His second cd is much, much better. Clutch - Strange Cousins From The West.

The Agonist is horrible, I had to sit through them live before seeing Enslaved.

I got that Clutch album in the mail today, haven't had a chance to listen to it yet but the packaging is very impressive.
That means you still have 2 more albums to listen to, right? Anyway give those a listen & perhaps you'll like one of those then you can at least tell him you like 50% of what he loaned you. You never know it may be a test of whether YOU have good taste, in his opinion, or not.
