November's Doom!

Every album but especially The Pale Haunt Departure and The Novella Reservoir. Two of my favourite albums from the last few years.
I would HIGHLY recommend The Novella Reservoir!! bowdown

The Wandering Midget

 lol

Well I read a couple of reviews and it seems that the album is much better than what the band name would indicate.

I greatly appreciate the kudos   Wink

However I'm in agreement that we're not really a "doom" band, and especially in regards to someone looking for stuff in the Trouble/Candlemass vein.  Those bands are both huge influences on me, but we're still pretty different from that kind of doom and lean far more towards the old-school death metal style than anything.
Albums like "The Pale Haunt Departure" and "Novella Reservoir" definitely lean more towards death metal, though not exclusively.  But there's also clean vocals and mellow Floyd-like tunes/parts, and so forth.  If death metal growls aren't to your liking though, you might not care for alot of our stuff.

For the hell of it, I'll give you a list of tunes that might be a good "starter" list, some of our more doom-y tunes, given your interest in the doom bands you mentioned.  If you don't like these tunes, then I can pretty much guarantee you won't like the rest  lol  Saves you the time and money!

Silent Tomorrow
Collapse Of The Fallen Throe
Autumn Reflection
In Memories Past
Forever With Unopened Eye
For Every Leaf That Falls
Leaving This
Last God
Dead Leaf Echo
They Were Left To Die

You can easily find these tunes either on our Myspace page, website, or places like Youtube probably (Yeah I know you can find 'em on torrent sites but I ain't goin' there sorry  Wink  )

Some of my favorite doom records I'd recommend--

Winter- Into Darkness (still my all time favorite doom release, just so brutally cold and slow)

Count Raven- Destruction Of The Void (strong Sabbath/Pentagram worship but still killer)

Cathedral- Carnival Bizarre &  The Ethereal Mirror

Sacrilege and I would recommend their 1989 album Turn Back Trilobite.

Thanks I'll check them out when I get back from vacation. The motherboard of my computer at home died so I am currently pretty limited on what I can check out online. The firm blocks access to myspace and a whole range of other sites so the work computer is out.

Aside from the biggest bands in the genre I have very little traditional doom.  I'm a much bigger fan of doom death/funeral doom.

There are a couple of obscure bands I enjoy but they're both Christian.  One is Seventh Angel.  Their album "Lament for the Weary" is fantastic and has a Trouble vibe with some thrash thrown in.  Veni Domine produced two classics in the vein of Solitude Aeturnus mixed with proggier- Queensryche called Fall Babylon Fall and Material Sanctuary.  Great stuff if you don't mind the lyrics.  Neither are really preachy but ae obviously religious.

Mak is right about Veni Domine  devilbang

No matter how weird or unlikely it might seem to describe them as such, they do sound like a doom version of early Queensryche (!)
Fall Babylon Fall and Material Sanctuary are absolute must-haves if you can find them...

The cheapest I saw Fall Babylon Fall go for is $30. I picked up Material Sanctuary for 2 pounds. Getting it shipped to my inlaws in England andl I'll pick it up next week when I visit them.

Christian Lyrics don't bother me so they are not a deal breaker for me. Even though I have no love for religion in general it has inspired some truly gifted individuals. The little I have read and both these bands seem interesting. Seventh Angel is often referred to as thrash metal though so I am wondering about the vocals so how are they?
