I am in a bit of a Doom metal mood. Last week-end I played WHW, Doomsword, Candlemass, Solitude Aternus and Gates Of Slumber.

My knowledge of the genre is pretty miniscule so I am hoping for recommendation for bands along the lines of the aforementioned.

I hear I should check out Solstice and Novembers Doom. From the  little research that I have done it seems Solistice is not an active band anymore. As for Novembers Doom I am not to sure of the vocals but I am willing to give them a shot. So which album should I get?

November's Doom!

Every album but especially The Pale Haunt Departure and The Novella Reservoir. Two of my favourite albums from the last few years.

Are November's Doom really doom metal though?  I always figured the doomiest part about them was their name.  lol

They're less "doomy" than they used to be that's for sure. But their recent albums are so good, (and underrated), that everyone should get them anyway.
