Bought it last night, and it's ... more of the same (surprise!). Not a bad thing, though. There are a few points when the band attempts some variation on the 1,000 MPH template, but soon the boys accelerate to 1,001 MPH.  :D

Dragonforce is what it is, and for what it is, I dig it.

Honestly, I've never been a huge fan of Dragonforce, but I can understand why they're so popular with the new generation of young metalheads.
There's no accounting for taste, but listening to a non-stop shred fest gets tiring rather quickly, impressive at first but will probably not stand the test of time...

I'll take GAMMA RAY or HELLOWEEN over these guys any day of the week!  devilbang

Dragonforce is total cheese. But I like 'em.

Helloween and Gamma Ray are classic bands. Awesome.

After another spin, the question is, how long can the band carry on with this schtick? As much as I find the music fast, fun and proficient, I admit it is all very same-y, and it's hard to imagine Dragonforce existing in 10 years if the members continue to write and record so one-dimensionally.

Though I haven't heard the new one,,,,,I know EXACTLY what you're getting at and I completely agree,,,,,

can only listen to this band a few songs at a time.  They basically play the same song over and over, never varying the tempo or delivery.

What can I say, DF are a guilty pleasure of mine.  I got this in the mail last week and have really been enjoying it.

It's more similar to Sonic Firestorm with a bit of the zaniness from Inuman Rampage thrown in.  It's not going to make fans of those who hate them, but will please those of us who found IR way too redundant even for DragonForce.  It's both more epic and happy sounding, with a bit more of a video game sounding vibe thrown in that reminds me a bit of Valley of the Damned as well.

And man, some of these choruses are their best yet.  Resons to Live, Iside the Winter Storm, Warrior Inside.  Shoot even the ballad has a great soaring Power Metal chorus.

And they did mix it up a bit more this time.  The Long Journey Home is a great mid paced song.

I'm not often in the mood for it, but when I am it's a great 60 minutes of fun fist pumping cheese power shred metal.  shred

I'm the opposite, I have no clue why a generic power metal band like them got popular.

Agree.  Like I previously said, every song is the same tempo and sounds the same.
